Recently my speedo needle was bouncing so I removed the cable and lube’d it behind the speedo and it still bounced. I then removed the other end from the speedo drive at the ZF and poured oil into the speedo drive and cable and that fixed my issue. Do not remove the speedo drive mechanism just the cable as there is a part that will come apart in the ZF trans from what I have heard.

Well, i did not know that anything would come apart… I took the angle drive off when I replaced my speedo cable as well…(did not try to take the drive apart) nothing happened to my knowledge..

then I spent quite some time with gasoline to flush the old crap out and then induced new oil in it… it feels very good now compared to before….
