Isn’t there a bolt that goes through the case that retains the drive element in the ZF case in place?
I think you’re OK removing the angle drive, as long as you keep that retainer bolt in place…
(Someone speak up if I’m incorrect on this…)
Wade and I did drop the drive element into the case accidentally, but we’re luckily able to fish it back out with a magnet through it’s hole…. without having to open the case back up. BUT…. My ZF was on Wade’s workbench, not in the car.
MIGHT be good to check the angle drive. Can you move the wheels now? Put it in 5th, push in the clutch, rotate the back wheels, and see if the angle drive moves…
(But it’s funny that the needle is stuck at 20 MPH)…

PS. You can download the ZF manual from the POCA Website to confirm this (if you’re a member). You may be able to still find the manual on the internet…. It’s the same transaxle used on the Maserati Bora (and the Fendt Roller, what ever that is!)
