The OEM gas tank shroud was added by Ford on most of the early cars, and included by DeTomaso later. It is two layers of aluminum sandwiching a layer of asbestos insulation (I think). Various vendors sell a stainless cover that I think slips over the existing one. Ask them as not all are identical.
