Are the 308 pipes actually stainless? They obviously shouldn't rust if they were but also will be non-magnetic (a simple test) if they are stainless. If they are stainless and also hold a magnet, they could be ferritic stainless, which can rust slightly, but I highly doubt it because it would be unusual to use it in exhausts.
