super appreciative of this group and the always helpful people and advice!

problem solved. First issue was my shaft had dropped. pulling it up gave me another 3” or so. Then I could tell that my father had put things back incorrectly. I followed the order above with the shaft all the way out and had plenty of room to get the the factory GTS wheel back on.
