Stock cooing fan and Temp guage.

Does anyone have a stock fan they want to get rid of? Only one of mine is working. Also a question on the temp guage. It was working fine until I took out the pressure tank to paint it. After I re-istalled it and filled it up I get no reading. The electrical connection is connected but still it only gets to about 100 degrees. One more question when I bought the car it had no thermostat. Should I have one in the car? If so what temp stat should I put in. It has the restrictor plate (brass) in the block already and I thought someone put it there to slow down the water flow. But I hear that is stock. Also is there a better place to put a temp sensor? Sorry for all the questions. Thanks
