I've been running a NASCAR-type open plenum intake, very similar to the Dominators, on the street without much trouble and with decent mileage. But I used a Holley 600 vac-sec to get crisp low-end throttle response and 17mpg. With either of those big carbs, you'll be less than happy, I suspect, unless you hang out mostly at Texas World Speedway or the like. Figure on 3-4 mpg less and a soft low end, then a gigantic boot in the rear. To each his own....
