I think the Windsor has a taller deck this helps keep the piston pin out of the oil ring.
Probably helps the rod ratio too! This would make it easier for more cubic inchs from the Windsor.

I'm sure George or someone else will chime in with more detailed information regarding advantages and disadvantages of each engine.
