Strong vibrations

I have a problem with my steering colum. My Pantera is a grp4 clone, and is running with big brake's and wide soft slick's.
When the slick's are getting hot and sticky and under hard braking, There are vibrations in my steering wheel. At first I tought it had to be the brakes. It wasn't so. It is the steering colum. The mounting bracket under the dash is just flexing to much. So I have reinforced it with some bracing. It improved a lot, but it is still present. It is not uncontrollable but annoying.

Now I took this photo some time ago. I know it is a totally modified steering colum, but it would also solve my problem. Is somebody using a system like this? It has to be a bearing that supports the mid of the first part of the steering colum.
