Stuck rear bumper

To anyone that can help me. I've just recently purchased my Pantera. It has the large L type rear bumper. Until yesterday, if the bumper ever got pushed in, I was able to pull it out and away from the car. Last night the bumper somehow got pushed in further than it has ever been pushed in and now I can't pull it out and away from the body. It has actually made contact with the budy and had chipped the paint. I've taken the bumper completely off but still can't pull out the bracket (tapping it with a hammer doesn't work either.) Has anyone ever been through this? Any help to resolve the issue would be greatly appreciated.
