I agree, poor Gunner had a simple question, then post turned south. The forum had not used to be like that in the past. As for my post, yes price was typo when I went back to check and 1200 seemed like shill bidding as it seemed excessive. Like I said, probably more reasonable covers out there that do the same without the cost. The guy that was selling them on eBay said he valued them so much that he just had them hanging on the wall admiring them like a painting.

Yup, that's them. Probably would work well in certain applications. Definitely intended as a combination stud girdle with a unique design to reduce the bulk of a valve cover intended to cover the structure of some billet girdle of the day.

The installation instructions clearly indicate they are intended to be a stud girdle. It's right there in black and white.

I agree that they are not for speed installation on an engine, they are cumbersome to install and they eat up the o-rings as a result. The acorn nuts needed to be stainless rather than chromed steel so they would stay looking good.

Many of the sets that I have seen had been stripped of the crinkle paint and just painted black engine paint.

On my car you do not want to keep pulling off the valve covers. Several of the bottom bolts on them disappear under the header tubes and laying across the engine with the decklid on is not what my body was designed to do.

These covers are nothing but a curiosity and in my opinion are best applied to a display hanging on my shop wall. There are significantly better valve covers to use.

In addition, they never came on any kind of Ford production vehicle or were never seen on any factory race cars of the era, so there really is very little provenance to add to the value.

They do fit into the category of nice industrial art though. I do agree with that and art is worth whatever one is willing to pay for it? Of course this is just my opinion and others see it differently, which is fine by me. No foul, no harm.
