Untrue. I responded in the first page of the thread with what I had actually sold sets for. I asked what the OP what he intended to do with them because that would affect the condition and of course price….just like everything else, condition and intended use affects value. It’s like asking what a collector car is worth. Is it a rusted out hulk or undriven survivor and does the person asking want a driver or trailer queen?
I also responded to Gunner with a reply to his PM. Also untrue. It’s just hobby not investment for me and if you knew me, you would know that’s the case……. It appears to me that any one defending these valve covers unreasonably has another motive and that is what I question and why?
The most obvious, is there an investment in them?
I see nowhere where you stated "I will sell a set to you for...". I see you stated that you paid $1,200 for a set two years ago.
If I'm wrong, I'm wrong. What was the amount you stated that you will sell a set for now?
"Follow the money". Often explains many motivations and actions.
Discussing over value has little to do with the integrity, quality or lack of it from anyone. A "reasonable" amount is what both sellers and buyers usually aim for, but what's reasonable to one is not to another?
Ultimately the issue here is this thread needs to be moderated.
If it was me, I'd throw out the entire thread except Gunners original request.
This is all just bringing out the ugliness in everyone and that is not the purpose of the forum. Not mine either.
It should not be the purpose of the forum either that people come here to "hawk" their wears. Many of us, me included, are interested in new innovative products.
Agreed that is easier said than done but I think that should be the spirit of it.
I'm no angel but I state the price up front.
Lots of times when people don't like my comments it's simply because I am in the way of them selling their wears and showing others a less expensive alternative. Maybe a better one too?
Comes back to the rules of the house. I don't own this place. Someone else does.
The Proprietor just wants everyone to have a good time in his place but at some point he just finally asks everyone to shut up or leave his establishment. Me too.
