Reply to "Suddenly hard clutch pedal"

I experienced this on my 74 stock set up. On initial start up and drive it was okay, but after some miles the clutch pedal would become progressively harder to push. It still shifted fine, just excessive pressure was required. Turned out to be the clutch master cylinder. Could have been blocking fluid as you mentioned due to rust. If it's the original master, it should be changed anyway.
