Yes it sticks above the roof a couple of inches.

The edge of mine is 3/8" down from the edge of the decklid. These were stock equipment on the '73's so that's where God intended it to be.

I think that it throws air into the rear window.
I call it a weber scoop. It feeds the Webers.

It's also good for blowing the horseflies off the manuer when I'm hauling to the north forty.
This thing makes a great little pickup truck.
