You'll be OK, Uli. Liquid gasoline is not flammable- only the vapor is. EFI systems have an electric motor running submerged in liquid gasoline at the bottom of the tank, which acts as a silencer and coolant for the hot-running, high-speed DC pump motor.

Note: if you now have a '71-72 fuel sender, only the later '73-up sender is currently available (with a fuel outlet built in), but it will fit all Panteras with no problems. The extra outlet can be capped if you have an early tank, or used as a fuel return for EFI.

The float and plastic cover for the sender's potentiometer also interchange early-to-late year cars. Be careful flexing the potentiometer's long steel wire float arm while installing- it is hardened and will easily crack at the bend going into the plastic sender box. There is no practical repair.
