Tapping into Phenolic Spacer for PCV breather?

The A/N hardware shop suggests that I use a 10 A/N fitting into my 1" phenolic spacer to draw vacuum from my PCV breather. I changed carbs and the vacuum port is on the opposite side instead of the front. I have S/S hoses and A/N fittings so this seems to be the best solution. Will it draw too much vacuum from the spacer at the base of the carb compared to the port from the carb? Or am I being too anal? Thanks
