Temp Gauge

Well the problem I thought I solved I didn't. My problem is when I drive my car the temp gauge only reads aprox 150 no more on less no matter how warm the air temp is. I think the problem may be the temp sender??? Anyone have any ideas. If is is the sender will a stock sender work? I have a 74 Pantera what year and make ford product will work? Any way of checking the gauge for a bad ground etc. Thanks for you're time...
