Temp gauges rises when lights on

Hey Folks:

I am wondering if anyone has any clues as to solving why, my temp gauges rises about 20 degrees, when the headlights are turned on. Basically the car runs around the 200 mark all day long (Socal), but as soon as the sun sets and I have to turn on the headlights... the temp gauge creeps up, sometimes getting close to the 230 limit.
Anyone, have any tips, advice, etc.
