Reply to "Throttle cables"

Peter, the OEM cable is 43 years old and likely has NEVER seen lubrication. Plus, many cables are slightly mis-routed from the cable-end through the intake bracket to the carb, and finally it sounds like you need new return springs (2!) so the pedal returns correctly. In traffic, that's unsafe. Pre-L front bumpers aren't even good for 1/2 mph bumps.

JB from TX made a nice sheet metal cable guide to keep the cable from bending too sharply as it enters the intake bracket. On our Pantera, the OEM ferrule at the bracket end used to pop off, holding the throttle open a bit. Safety wire and Gorilla Glue fixed that, but I really do need a new cable, just like you!

The new cables have a slippery liner that replaces periodic lubing. If the OEM had any liner originally, its worn thru in the bend areas.
