My 73 varies from the diagram as well.
I have to presume that there was a small production change on the US pre L and L and later cars.
If it works, don't fix it. What's the big deal?
Having the "correct" throttle connection is worth 10 brownie points. After you get 5,000,000 points you get a free brownie.
