Here's something to think about.

A year ago my car was stolen out of a trailer parked at a motel. It was on its way to a race shop where one of the things I was going to fix was that tube which slides down over the cable. Because if someone who has not driven the car before gets in and accidently sticks his big foot behind the pedal he can disconnect it. Not a big deal but I thought I'd fab something to better hold it in place.

About 1:00 AM I got a call from the police asking me if was the owner of a white Pantera parked on the side of the higway leading to the US border.

Wow! What a surprise. What was it doing there, I wondered as I speed to meet the police having convinced them not to leave the car alone.

I found her sitting on the side of the highway - and then it hit me. I stuck my head inside and sure enough the pedal was flat on the floor, with the cable disconnected.

I thanked the police for waiting and I'm sure the theifs had gone for some tools and saw the police waiting when they returned.

I drove home and swore never to change that cable connection.
