Reply to "Tie Rod Tango"

...Pay close attention! Here's one way that works! 'Shock' is a major tool, of the professional Machine Shop. You need two Hand-Held (Short Handled) SLEDGE Hammers, I'am NOT talking 'Carpenters' hammers!! You need heavy mass!

Loosen the nut on the tie-rod end, But don't remove it. One hammer is held behind and in contact with the Mounting Point of the tapered stud. With the other Sledge Hammer give the Mount a GOOD Whack at the mounting point! It may take two or three trys. The tapered stud wll 'Pop' right out like Magic!! The Nut is left ON so the Tie-Rod doen't fly out and hit something. Most Spindles have a Cast-in 'Boss' just for this purpose of being hit with a Hammer. Believe it or Don't!!...
