I was thinking that looking into U.S. Customs records would help since the car had to be imported into the states at some point (car is currently located in North Georgia).

Ricky, I am lucky to have found a list of all prior owners and factory build sheets for my car.
Provenance is more and more of a problem as many countries and states bury the info on the guise of protection of personal information.
The factory does have the build sheets but will not disclose who they sold it to.
I sent a couple contacts to your dad`s email a few days ago.
