The cable bracket mounts on the second (from the front) intake manifold bolt on the drivers side.

What carb are you trying to mount?

Have you just changed from the stock Autolite to a Holley or Demon? If so you will need a special piece at the carb to make it work. It moves the ball stud towards the rear of the car and improves the geometry of the linkage.
