Reply to "true survivor Mangusta?"

Don't believe everything you read on the internet!

This is one of those "read between the lines" things!

So much wrong with this car that I don't have the time to mess with it at the moment....

But here's my $.03 (inflation!)

IT IS a great car!!! That said....

Wrong air cleaner...not even close.
They replaced the brake hoses.....what they don't bother to mention, because they probably never got close to them....was did they check the caliper pistons for corrosion? (My car sat for only 13 years and the pistons were a mess!!! This car has sat a lot longer...)

Brake cylinder? Master/slave clutch cylinders??? These were all aluminum.....again, my car sat for 13 years and the bores and pistons were "fuzzed" together....not fused..... fuzz everywhere on the material.....

Rubber booties for the sperical rod end joints been replaced? Bet not!

Rust on the trans ring gear/mainshaft gears from sitting immobile for years???
Tool kit? Jack?

This car needs another $20-30K worth of Johnny Woods' time to dial in this car to be really really nice! The body looks good! The interior (THE SEAT!!!!) looks like sh*t..... They wrote:"especially on the black leather buckets that feel nearly new"... The driver seat looks nearly usable, barely functional!

I wonder if people pay these guys to make this stuff up! "Having access to one of the 401 DeTomaso Mangustas makes you rare Italian royalty, but the opportunity at a true survivor barn find can crown you the king amongst kings." I'll be sure to put that in my passport....I'm an Italian king now! What will the wife think? She always thought I was German....perhaps some new business cards...!

These guys are bums, just under auction houses.....they wouldn't know a great Mangusta or Pantera if it bit them.
They wrote in typical BS style: "and the grip of new BF Goodrich tires"! That's white letter TA radials...one notch down from sedan style (black) touring tires.....look at the spec's....it's true!

Their price is a "fishing" price. My guess would be that this car sells in the low 300's or high 200's privately.....and it will pop up again "more finished"....and then it will bring some good money.

In the mean time, I'd be leery of driving the car around the block......

I know what has been done to my car, and I just drove it 1200 miles last week......and made it home just fine.

Ciao!
Steve
