Reply to "Tuff Dawg Engines"

For the same money I think you could rebuild your existing engine with higher quality components. I'm sure Dan Jones and George Pence can offer specific suggestions for components.

A couple of shortcomings (depending on your perspective, I guess) of the Tuff Dawg engine...
  • Heads are ProComp (Chinese knock-offs of CHI heads) I believe - notice they never mention the brand.
  • Pistons are cast, maybe hypereutectic, but not forged (if I recall correctly - I looked into these when I started my rebuild 4 years ago)
  • Build is a generic build with decent power numbers, but not specific to your wants/needs.


Dan Jones can spec a cam for you that will likely deliver better performance, and performance tailored to your desires - high torque, long flat torque curve, etc. - whatever YOU want! And, you can likely build it for less. Just a thought!

Yeah, you can't build it for less with new aluminum heads, but you could do a decent higher quality build for just a bit more.
