Reply to "Turn signal problem"

PROBLEM SOLVED! I dropped the steering column and there was the cause staring me right in the face. The previous owner of the car had bridged a powered wire from the ignition switch to the pink/black power wire on the hazard switch. I have no idea why he did the as the pink and black wire already was a 12v source. I guess the added amps prevented the flasher from building up enough resistance to blink. This has been one of a number of "Mickey Mouse" electrical "fixes" done prior to my friend buying the car. We discovered the electric fuel pump wired into the marker lighting system for power. Each time you turned on the turn signals, the pump speed would change. We've had to go through the entire electrical system, found many bad modifications and probably saved the car from burning down due to electrical wiring. Thanks to all who offered solutions!
