DEFINITELY install a relay kit or the Pantera Electronics ATO Fuse Panel (I believe it incorporates relays to take the load off the in-dash switches). Relay kits are available from Rich Boschert and Rick Mosely, and other vendors too I imagine.

Your very expensive ignition switch is also at risk without relays because all that starting/operating current is running through it - can you say "burnt wiring harness"? I had the interior of my car instantly fill with smoke one evening about 5 miles into a drive - pulled over and shut it down as quickly as possible to avoid an electrical fire. The heat melted/burned the insulation off the wires going into the switch, which then caused things to short - a situation that quickly goes from bad to worse! I was fortunate it didn't go further.
