Reply to "Under $35,000, rotisserier restoration, for sale, but not my car"

Hello Ron,
In reading your postings, what has happened does not surprise me. Since we opened PI Motorsports in 1996, I have had daily exposure to the Pantera market. It seems to me that some of the most negative individuals on Pantera pricing that I have encountered are of all things Pantera owners! It seems as though there are certain owners who are critical when a Pantera changes hands for a high figure, almost a hostility in some cases. I have read postings on Pantera websites where PI Motorsports, Inc. has been "blamed" for the high prices of Panteras. One individual even said that our firm has been responsible for $10,000 in price increases for Panteras alone. If this is true, we are proud to get credit for it, however, I strongly believe that the negativity and pessimissm and perhaps even jealousy of some owners is responsible for any downward pressure on pricing. Even when a Pantera is sold at $35-40K, this is still less than some highly optioned SUV's we see rolling around. There is no conspiracy here to jack up prices. Even at $35K+, a Pantera is still a great value. If you have a good car, you shouldn't have to give it away. I expect to see prices continue to rise on these special cars. As for those owners who complain about other owners selling their cars for what they view as "inflated" prices, I would like to tell you that I have found that when those folks decide to sell their cars, you can probably expect to see the most exorbitant asking prices of all times. Thanks, Dave Adler
