I completely removed the baffles from a set of identical covers, some decades ago with no ill effects. Not sure how much actual baffling they do, Mine screwed in. Once gone, full roller rockers AND a rocker stud girdle set fits under them just fine. The cover extensions that Julian listed may help some people and are simpler & more secure than glueing several gaskets together in stacks.
