Valve spring height

My suggested correct spring height is 1 53/64. I measure 1 55/64 or 1/32 more than the suggested height. I bought shims but the inside diameter will not fit onto the seats. Where do you get your shims, is this (the 1/32)worth worrying about, or should I put it together?
