Reply to "Vapor shield on doors?"

Wasatch Cat,

The material that was under my door panel was a very dark brown or black plastic-like material. Like Mike “King” mentioned - mine was glued to the door.

The plastic on my doors was so old and brittle that I could not get it off in one piece so I ended up replacing it with some heavy duty plastic. The material I used was shrink wrap film for shrink wrapping boats for outdoor winter storage. It is very thick and durable.

I just looked but was unable to locate it, but I thought someone had a thread on using an acoustic sound deadening material in the doors. It may have been Dynamat but I am not sure.

The way the door panels are designed I think you could put sound deadening under the panel without much issue.
