Vent Window Installation

I am in the process of reinstalling the door glass & stainless taken apart by a previous owner. I have questions regarding the vent window installation:
Does the rubber encasing the rear of the vent window get installed into the front channel of the vertical metal bar that attaches to the top and inside the door. The backside of this metal bar is also the channel that holds the felt for the front of the main sliding window. If the rubber surrounding the vent window does go in the front channel of the metal bar, what has been the easiest way to install the vent window in the channel (lube the rubber and press or slide it into the channel)? It appears sliding would be difficult to get around the bracket configuration of where the door bolt goes.
Anyone having experienced this install, comments are appreciated.
