Reply to "VIN build date vs. Title Year"

THPN "MT" ... the MT indicates a build date of December 1972, not April (in '74 'T' indicated April, but it was a weird 16 month cycle that the letters followed, not 12), so it would be considered a '73 model.

Bumperettes could have been retrofitted by a previous owner, it's not an uncommon modification on 'L' cars.

The dash could have been sitting in inventory at the factory and grabbed when the car your looking at was going along the line.

If you provide a bit more information about your (or the car's) location, perhaps someone local can look at it with you to try to determine what is original and or modified, as well as help you go over any of the critical areas you need to be sure are sound on the car before making an offer.
