two answers here, Joules, cars older than 30 years may now be fully registered as LHD in Aus. Minimal changes - mainly complying seat belts and child restraint anchorages (not sure how I'll do that on a 2 seat car!) So there is a big market in LHD imported cars. But you are right about the cost of repairs - parts aren't cheap.
And George RHD cars still have the gas pedal on the right.
Don't know if James bought a car yet, but I'm pretty happy with the process having just brought in a repairable L from PIM. With the favourable exchange rate at the moment, its a good time for shopping from here.
