What heads?

This is a spin off topic from the "What Cam?" discussion. Considering what I would have to spend on redoing my stock 4v, small valve heads and not having any machine shops here that can do a good job on heads because they lack the machinery (I was told this by a local machinest, racer) I am now contemplating going to a set of aluminum heads. I was looking at a set of Edelbrocks for about $1800. Any other suggestions? They will be going on a basically stock bottom half.
