When you cut the plate's you are suppose to set up the whole arrangement, square it & get every thing right then using a piece of flat copper behind, tack weld the plates back together.
Remove them all and with the copper backing weld them back together. TIG is usually the best, but you can grind to clean up before reinstalling, should look fairly nice.
