I think it's amazing the car ever made production. Ford could have not done it, could have evaluated it harder durring preproduction and production, pushed the development and delayed it. If they were still working out bugs in late 72 they probably would have scrapped it all together. Good thing DeTomaso was able to rush it through or it probably never would have been built. Had it been built in the 60's with a larger need for a track car they may have taken it more seriously and it may have been a contender or a replacement for the the GT. The early 70's were a fickle time.
