Here in Denmark we didn't have TV commercials when I was young, verboten! So I've seen very few of the old ones. Two I remember (NPC) are:
1. A 70 Barracuda commercial where the new model (looking very different from the previous) were met several times with the comment: "What IS it?!?".
2. Mid 80s, Buick tried to build a world beater, maybe it was a LeSabre. And the very entertaining commercial showed how it arrived via a cargo plane to Germany and Japan and one place more I don't remember. And the point was that the local car manufacturers were in the airport to see this new car, and they always looked scared, angry, concerned, because they could see this Buick would steal their customers

Never even remotely happened of course.
