Reply to "WHERE to BUY Fender Flares and GTS body add ons"

The last time I looked at Hall Pantera's catalogue, the steel fenders and accessories for a GT-5 conversion listed for $2500. The so-called wide body GT5-S conversion listed for about $10,000. Doing the body work added another $10-12,000 (not including paint) & 8 months of labor. Other shops may also do this work, using similar fenders. This is an enormous job even for pro body shops. There will be some 50 FEET of TIG-weld beads to work down, once the new "S" fenders are mounted to the stock tub. There are fiberglas conversion fenders around, but cracking will be a regular thing, I'm afraid, since so much of the load-bearing stock body must be cut away for them to fit properly. The 10x 15" front & 12x 15 rear Campys are impossible to find and speed-rated tires are almost non-existent. If it were me, I'd look around for an already converted, running car to buy rather than get involved in such a project.
