Reply to "which distributor?"

Thank you Dan, always a pleasure reading your posts. My original points distributor was in poor repair and I decided to simply replace it but didn't really want the external box or height issues with some other distributors so the Unilite seems a good choice for this mostly stock motor. One addition I might offer, the advance curve info you provided is for a 'YL' type disbributor and comes with a large assortment of springs an a single, steped gauge. That happens to be the kit I initially purchased before realizing that the distributor for a Cleveland motor requires a YT/YH kit. It comes with a smaller assortment of springs and a number of individual advance gauges. After mapping out my desired 20* of mechanical advance in by 2600/2700 rpm, I chose the 2-stage advance and the purple/brown spring combination. The 2-stage allows a quicker advance until about 1700 rpm, at such time the longer purple spring comes into play and slows the rate of advance up to the desired total. Here's a link to the Mallory YT/YH page http://go.mrgasket.com/pdf/29014.pdf

I went with a max of 20* mechanical to allow me to dial in 16-18* initial and keep the total to 36-38*.

Again, thanks...
John
