You can much delay the day you need to replace ball joints by simply adding zerk fittings to ball joints, tie rod ends and the lower rear pivot shaft. Zerk fittings are threaded 1/4-28 and after drilling & tapping, you'll only get about 2 threads in the bases, but thats enough to withstand grease pressure. I did all mine quite a few years ago & detailed it in a POCA newsletter article. The ball joints need a 'long-reach' zerk since the drill hole will be in a recessed area that then cannot be accessed once a std zerk is screwed in. Missing zerk fittings is common- Ford's Pinto for instance never had them, and several companies immediately began selling 'kits' to install them.
