Will MSD8577 distributor clear cover

Does anyone know if the MSD8577 will fit (height that is) under the engine cover?

I currently have a MSD8580 which I've discovered in my "search and destroy mission" that the advance is locked. And I mean like bad distributor and not where someone did the 180degree lock method.

(Imagine my suprise when I was looking for total advance today and saw 10-10-10-10....even at 3K)........Kinda explains where the lacking power was.

So.........I'd like to replace it with the 8577 to get the smaller diameter cap.
