All DeTomaso's were manufactured in Italy and could be ordered with or without wings. Particularly for cars made in the eighties. Many did not have them and some prefer them without wings. One should note that the wings applied as ordered from DeTomaso in Europe were NOT the Amerisport wing. They were factory mounted on the raised edges on each side of the rear deck. While Amerisport was technically a manufacturer under law (installed engine, trans,DOT,EPA equipment) on otherwise complete fully assembled cars, their wing design was of Amerisports own choice. It then further begs the potential question, if your wing did not come from the factory does it really belong at all? Also, they were not manufactured for early cars and technically are inappropriate in that light. So it again becomes a matter of choice as there are hot debateable arguments to each point of view. Last, the mounting points you describe, 3" off the deck centerline, further inhibit rear visibility. Something to consider.
