The Mallory 6A has a wire for the tachometer. It may or may not be necessary to hook it up there and is actually a better place for the signal than the coil. The stock set up uses the negative side of the coil for the tachometer pick up. The Mallory Unilite distributor seems to work fine with the stock tachometer and does not require a spectial adapter.

I just installed all Autometer gauges and the tachometer signal had to come from the box and not the coil to make the tachometer work correctly.
