Wiring harness

I purchased a new rear wiring harness that was for a GT-5 and am trying to install it in a late 71. Most of the wires and connectors seem to match the wiring diagram and what's there now. Before I do major damage to the mummy-like old harness, will this work? Any differences I should be aware of?
