When I haul cars I use 2x4's and rubber bands which help keep the car in position. I take 2x4 and screw in hooks. With a 2x4 in front and behind the tire rubber bands pull them together. So if the car rocks it just pulls them in tighter. It seems real simple but helps keep the car from shifting.

It is also good to drive a few miles, pull over and re-tighten the straps.
