Think this rib is only on the 10s, must be strengthening for the additional width, I think the original 10s had this also you will not have this on 7s and 8s.
The reason for going to all new is purely on looks, also the original 8s are quite rough castings and I have not had good results in trying to smooth out with fillers! And I suppose for reliability, but then again my car is not stock but I love the look of the campi wheels.
