What does any of this have to do with Mark's original question?? He asked of the output shafts could be changed without disturbing the shims. The answer is yes. The side plates must be removed but they do NOT have to be "striped" at all. There is a outside snapring with a washer under it which must be removed. the shaft can then be pressed out without disturbing the carrier bearing races or shims. The new shaft is pressed in and the washer and clip are installed. The side plate in installed and you are basically done.
