Sorry I had to laugh, mine when i got the car the tops unscrewed and all the oil leaked out.
So I know where you are coming from !
The local shock absorber rebuilder here , when he rebuilds them he pulls all the guts out and puts a quality car shock in there. it all looks the same but has no rate adjustment. He did say the Aldin ones were more ornamental, than a functionaing shocker !
